This policy explains what happens to work you send DJ’s Legacy Publishing House, who reads it, and what you should and should not include. It applies to manuscript submissions, publishing inquiries, and query letters sent through any form on this site.
How to submit
Use the Submission Guidelines page and follow the instructions for your category. Poetry, anthology pieces and collaborations each have their own requirements. Submissions that ignore the stated format take longer to read and are more likely to be declined without comment.
Who reads your work
Submissions are read by the editorial team at DJ’s Legacy Publishing House. We do not circulate submissions outside the house, sell them, publish extracts, or use them to train any automated system.
Manuscript links
Our forms accept a link rather than a file attachment. A view-only link is enough, and you may restrict it to publishing@djslegacy.com. We open the link only to read the work, and you can revoke access at any time.
Do not include passwords, banking or payment details, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information in any submission form. If a document you link to contains that information, remove it before you send the link.
What we keep
We keep your contact details and the substance of your submission for as long as we are considering it, and afterwards as a record of what has been submitted to us. You can ask us to delete your submission and your details by emailing publishing@djslegacy.com. See our Privacy Policy for how personal information is handled generally.
Response times
We read every inquiry and reply within five business days. A reply within that window may be an acknowledgement rather than a decision — a full editorial read takes longer, and we will tell you if it will.
Rights
Sending us a submission does not transfer any rights in your work, and it does not create an agreement between us. You are free to submit the same work elsewhere at the same time; please tell us if you do, and let us know promptly if it is accepted somewhere else.
You are responsible for confirming that the work is yours, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that permissions have been cleared for any material you have quoted or reproduced.
Similar work
We receive a large number of submissions and we also commission and develop work ourselves. Ideas, themes and titles are not protected by copyright, and we may publish work that resembles something submitted to us without that work having any connection to your submission.
If we decline
A decline is a judgement about fit, list and timing, not a verdict on your writing. We are not able to give detailed feedback on every submission we turn down.
