Publishing Services Terms

These terms apply to publishing services purchased from DJ’s Legacy Publishing House. They sit alongside the individual service agreement you receive when a package is confirmed. Where the two differ, your service agreement governs.

The packages

Package contents are listed on the Publishing Services page and on each product page. In summary:

360 Publishing Package. Manuscript review and editing, cover design and interior layout, ISBN and copyright registration, print and distribution setup, and launch support.
Marketing Management. Launch and campaign planning, social and email promotion, retail and listing optimisation, and event and appearance support.
Adult & Child Publication Workshop. Instruction in how publishing works, preparing a manuscript for submission, what a publisher does and does not do, and the route from draft to print. Sold in tiers at different prices.

What is included

Every package includes the work items listed for it, the rounds of revision set out in your service agreement, and direct contact with the house while the work is under way. Payment plans are available on request.

What is not included

So that expectations are set before you pay, the following sit outside every package unless your service agreement says otherwise:

Guaranteed sales. We do not promise a number of copies sold, a level of revenue, or a return on your investment.
Guaranteed retail placement. Distribution setup makes a title orderable through retail and library channels. It does not guarantee that any individual retailer will choose to stock it. Retailers decide independently what to carry.
Guaranteed media coverage, reviews, awards or bestseller status. We can approach outlets on your behalf; we cannot commit them to respond.
Ongoing print costs beyond the print run specified in your agreement.
Travel, accommodation and venue fees for events and appearances, unless expressly stated.
Third-party charges such as retailer fees, advertising spend, or services you ask us to buy in on your behalf.

Your manuscript and your rights

You keep the rights you hold in your work. The specific grant of rights, the term, and any royalty arrangement are set out in your service agreement, which you sign before work begins. We do not sell, licence or publish your manuscript outside the scope of that agreement.

You are responsible for confirming that the work you send us is yours to publish, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that any permissions for quoted or reproduced material have been cleared.

Scheduling and delivery

Production timelines are agreed per project and depend on the state of the manuscript when it reaches us, the speed of your responses at each review stage, and printer lead times. Dates given before a manuscript is delivered are estimates.

Payment, cancellation and refunds

Packages are payable in full or under a payment plan, as agreed at the point of purchase. Cancellation terms, the point at which a package becomes non-refundable, and the treatment of work already completed are set out in your service agreement. Ask us before you buy if you want those terms in advance — we will send them.

The general Refund Policy covers book purchases from this store. It does not govern publishing services, which are covered here and in your agreement.

Promotional pricing

Where a promotional price is shown alongside a regular price, the promotional price applies only for the stated period and only to packages confirmed within it.
