DJ’s Legacy Publishing House wants this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including readers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
What we aim for
We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our standard. In practice that means we try to ensure:
- every image that carries meaning has descriptive alternative text, and book covers name the title and the author;
- the site can be operated with a keyboard alone, without needing a mouse;
- text is resizable and the layout reflows without content being cut off or overlapping;
- form fields carry visible labels, and errors are announced rather than signalled by colour alone;
- headings follow a logical order so a screen reader can move through a page sensibly.
Where we know we fall short
This is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state. Some older product images and descriptions were carried over from an earlier version of the site and are still being brought up to standard. Content supplied by third parties, including embedded or externally hosted material, may not meet the same standard.
